Arendsvlei is a South African telenovela in Afrikaans, brought to life by Theltom Masimila. The show revolves around a semi-private high school situated in the Cape Flats, operated by the Cupido family, within the fictional community of Arendsvlei.
The narrative follows a brother and sister, both teachers, on a mission to provide quality education to as many local children as possible. However, they confront various challenges, both in their professional and personal lives.
Beatrice (portrayed by Jolene Martin), the school’s principal, established this institution to offer affordable, high-quality education to the community’s children. It’s her passion project, financed by her inheritance following her father’s passing.
The residents of Arendsvlei aspire to transcend their circumstances and pursue their dreams. The series explores themes of love, deception, murder, revenge, family secrets, teen pregnancies, depression, addiction, and homosexuality.
