Phatutshedzo Makwarela and Gwidyon Benyon created it, and Tshedza Pictures produced it for M-Net, a premium subscription TV channel. The show is about the Price family and their struggle to control the Price empire after the death of Sebastian Price, the family patriarch. Legacy is M-Net’s first telenovela.
At the 15th Annual SAFTA on May 22, 2021, Legacy won its first award in the Best Telenovela category. The series ended in September 2022 after two successful seasons, with a total of 416 episodes.

Sebastian Price, the family head, is set to retire as the CEO of Legacy Investments, a company he’s led for thirty years. Everyone is curious about who will take over. However, tragedy strikes when Sebastian unexpectedly passes away. This event triggers a power struggle among the family members.
Sebastian’s ex-wife, Angelique, harboring some bitterness, and his determined daughter, Felicity, go to great lengths to prevent Sebastian’s second wife, Dineo, from pushing her son, the playboy SJ, into the CEO position at Legacy Investments.
Imagine the wealthy characters from HBO’s Succession, but with a South African twist. Think of it like adding the daily drama from The Bold and The Beautiful and coloring the entire story with the escapism found in the best Brazilian telenovelas. Michelle Botes, born in 1962, is a well-known South African actress. She became famous for her role as the villainous Cherel de Villiers-Haines in the SABC3 soapie Isidingo from 1998 to 2007, and she reprised the role again from 2010.
Between 2007 and 2010, Michelle portrayed Ingrid Jordaan on the M-Net Afrikaans-language soapie Binneland Sub Judice, previously known as Binnelanders.
On February 23, 2010, TVSA reported that Michelle would be returning as Cherel in Isidingo. This news was officially confirmed in May 2010, and she made her comeback to Isidingo in early August 2010.
Michelle was born in Cape Town and attended Stellenbosch University and the University of Cape Town. She earned a Performer’s Diploma in Speech and Drama (Bilingual) and a Teaching Diploma.

Dawid Minnaar Career
Dawid Minnaar, a well-known South African actor, is famous for his roles as architect Leon de Lange in the SABC2 soap opera 7de Laan (2000-2005) and Dr. Franz Basson in M-Net/kykNET’s Binneland. Born in Upington, Northern Cape, he grew up on a karakul farm in Namibia. After being educated in Bethanie and attending Paarl Boys High, he pursued drama studies at Stellenbosch and Cape Town universities following his military service.
Minnaar kicked off his acting journey in 1981 with SWAPAC, later freelancing in Cape Town and collaborating with CAPAB. Since 1986, he has been based in Johannesburg, working with directors such as Lucille Gillwald, Barney Simon, and William Kentridge. He also took part in Handspring Puppet Company productions from 1995 to 2002. Minnaar has an impressive list of film and TV credits, including Die Sondaar, Uitdraai, A Soldier’s Tale, 7de Laan, and Binnelanders.
