“Skeem Saam is a South African soap opera, conceived by Winnie Serite, that has been airing on SABC1 since 2011. Set in both Johannesburg and Turfloop, the show gained rapid popularity, becoming a notable competitor to Generations.
With a primary focus on the lives of young people, Skeem Saam is produced by SABC Education and has successfully run for 10 seasons. However, in January 2021, the SABC made an announcement stating a production hiatus beginning March 1, 2021, due to a significant decline in viewership.”
